CBRN

Following fruitful exchanges held on Monday 10 October 2016, I am now preparing the planning for future activities which will be turned toward consolidating networking and building up synergies among projects in different thematic areas. In this respect, we intend to maintain two plenary CoU meetings a year and will add to this four thematic workshops to discuss specific issues related to the Secure, Safe and Resilient Societies that will cover CBRN-E as well as other themes covered by the Secure Societies Programme. As mentioned on Monday, these meetings will be designed according to the interest that you will express for given thematic discussions. From what we heard on Monday, one discussion will definitely focus on the issue of "culture of risk" and the citizen dimension in crisis management (possibly in March 2017).

In order to avoid possible clashes with dates of events which you might know (project meetings, conferences, etc.), I am sending you herewith dates at which we intend to hold the meetings. Please feel free to notify me in case one or more of these dates coincide with a major event:

• Plenary CoU on 14/03/2017 followed by 1 day ½ thematic workshop (to be defined) on 15-16/03/2017
• 1 day ½ thematic workshop (to be defined) on 16-17/05/2017
• Plenary CoU on 26/09/2017 followed by 1 day ½ thematic workshop (to be defined) on 27-28/03/2017
• 1 day ½ thematic workshop (to be defined) on 21-22/11/2017

A similar sequence of events will be scheduled in 2018. All thematic workshops will involve on-going EU-funded projects as well as of course all CoU interested members.

Please note that the Commission will not refund travel / accommodation expenses of participants but will cover logistics (renting of conference room and catering).

Looking forward to hearing from you (in case you have an event to notify),
Best regards,

Philippe Quevauviller
